OVERVIEW

The Borsato holiday apartment looks out onto the Grand Canal, with far-reaching views over the lagoon. The living room and the master bedroom have incomparable views over Venice’s Grand Canal, the Santa Maria della Salute basilica and the Punta della Dogana.

Situated on the third floor (4th American floor), which can be reached by elevator, guests can watch the passing gondolas and water taxis right from the living room and master bedroom windows of the apartment. This vantage point is an especially treasured position during the Venice carnival, Redentore, the historical regatta and the feast-day of the Madonna della Salute, all of which are celebrated right on the Grand Canal.

Some of the furniture was originally designed for the Palazzo in 1826 by Giuseppe Borsato, a Venetian painter and designer who also left his mark on the Teatro La Fenice.

The master bedroom has a 210×200 cm canopy bed, custom-designed for this apartment. Both bedrooms have extra de luxe mattresses and en-suite bathrooms in marble.

Painter, scenographer, architect, he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice. Giuseppe Borsato painted interiors of churches, sometimes in the manner of Canaletto, but was also influenced by his contemporary, Vincenzo Chilone. Among his best known decorative
works are those at St Mark’s Basilica and Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. In 1807, he and his student, Francesco Bagnara, decorated the Teatro La Fenice. Borsato was also very active as scenographer for operas. He painted many frescoes in theaters and in private Palazzi alongside Francesco Hayez. In 1815, his paintings were used in a popular guide to the artworks of Venice. He also designed objects, furniture and chandeliers.
